About This Stopover

Council-authorised overnight stop above St Ives

Trenwith Car Park is the main council-authorised overnight motorhome option for St Ives. It sits above the town and is far more practical for visiting motorhomes than attempting to drive into the narrow harbour streets.

This is not a campsite. Cornwall Council permits overnight sleeping here for self-contained motorhomes only, with a dedicated overnight motorhome tariff between 6pm and 9am.

Trenwith is a sensible park-and-walk option for St Ives. The town centre and harbour streets can be steep, narrow and heavily congested, especially in summer. Larger motorhomes should avoid driving deep into the old town unless absolutely necessary.

Road Access Notes

Important for Larger Vehicles

Avoid attempting to drive deep into old St Ives town streets unless absolutely necessary. The harbour area contains tight turns, steep gradients, seasonal congestion and significant pedestrian pressure. Trenwith works best as a park-and-walk location.

  • Facilities at the car park itself are limited; St Ives town has toilets and services.
  • The walk into town is mostly downhill — allow 20 minutes back up.
