Bodmin Moor — The Hurlers Stone Circle Loop
A wild moorland circuit linking Minions, The Hurlers and the summit of Stowes Hill
Minions, Bodmin Moor · Bodmin Moor
Quick summary
An excellent all-day step walk across high Bodmin Moor, taking in three Bronze Age stone circles, the rocky summit of Stowes Hill and expansive moorland views. Around 10,000 steps for most walkers on firm moorland paths.
Why this walk works for 10,000 steps
Open moorland terrain at around 300m elevation means firmer ground and more consistent walking pace. The circular route avoids backtracking and naturally accumulates steps across varied ground — the summit scramble adds a little extra.

Terrain and difficulty
Firm moorland grass and heather tracks. Some rocky sections on the Stowes Hill approach. Can be boggy in winter. Navigationally straightforward but take a map in poor visibility.
Best time to walk
Any season. Summer evenings have stunning light. Winter is quieter and atmospherically bleak.
Facilities nearby
The Cheesewring Hotel at Minions (food and drink). Café at the Minions Heritage Centre (seasonal).
Safety & access
Weather on Bodmin Moor can change quickly. Take a waterproof and warm layer. Map and compass useful in mist. Dogs welcome but keep on leads near livestock.
Distances and step counts are approximate and vary by stride length, terrain and device. Moorland and coastal routes can feel harder than the numbers suggest. Always check weather, daylight and access conditions before setting out.
