Lynton and Lynmouth are Exmoor’s best-known coastal settlements, linked by their dramatic setting as much as by the famous cliff railway. Here the Exmoor landscape feels compressed and intense: steep wooded slopes, river gorges, sudden sea views and high cliff paths all packed into a small area.
This is one of the strongest starting points for understanding Exmoor’s character. In one outing you can move from village streets to wooded combes and then onto high open coastal paths with huge views across the Bristol Channel.
